Elf on a Shelf 2020- The Ultimate Challenge
On Monday night at 9:47pm it occurred to me that our elf is THE MOST BORING in the 94123… possibly the entire city or Bay Area.
After I put “Elfie” (also a boring name!) on a plate in my kitchen and breaking up cookies all around him, I realized we needed a reboot in 2020. I need to up my Elf Game. I started studying this trend like I was studying for the bar exam… and here is the best of what I found:
Country Living broke down the Elf game in a way I could easily understand. What I know now is I need to rename my elf. They also offer a few fun and easy 2020 Covid ideas for the Elf. (I decided not to quarantine our elf although he travels from the North Pole regularly. I figure he probably has antibodies that will keep him and us safe.)
Although Elf didn’t quarantine at our house, I did enjoy checking out this Etsy shop with 2020 accessories for your elf… every elf needs a mask or a pandemic suit right?!
This Pinterest board has a ton of great ideas and links to even more! Note- you may need tape, pins and maybe even some velcro to really help your Elf shine this season.
Part of the fun of Elf on a Shelf is creating some borderline inappropriate scenes. I mean- YOU HAVE TO! Lots of ideas here… (Peruse at your own risk!)
I’ve found the best elf scenes usually involve making a mess- sugar all over the counter, candy cane snowflakes, etc etc. But it’s 2020 and I’m going for it. I’ll be posting a few elf scenes over the holidays and may be making some “new homes” for our Elf (new name on the way). If you have elf tips- please send them along to michelle.harris@compass.com
